Whitney Kropp was ecstatic when she heard she was nominated for homecoming court at Ogemaw Heights High in West Branch, Michigan.
But her enthusiasm quickly turned to embarrassment when it became clear that her classmates had only nominated her as a prank which was started by the school’s most popular students.
Kropp opened up about the situation and said, “I had actually reached a point where I had thought about suicide. I thought I wasn’t worthy at Ogemaw Heights at all.” But this story doesn’t end with Knopp suffering from such an act of bullying. Instead the small farm community that makes up West Branch rallied around her, convincing her to attend homecoming despite the joke. Local business have offered their services to make Kropp’s homecoming a memorable one from buying her dinner to taking care of her hair, nails, and dress. Many residents have even pledged to be in the stands the night of the game to ensure that Kropp is cheered for when her name is announced.
