1829 — Eduard Pflüger was born. Pflüger explored the electrical stimulation of motor nerves and the functions of the spinal cord. He contended that spinal reflexes were conscious functions because they were purposeful.

Saint Leo University hosted the commencement ceremony at the Air Force Base in Columbus, MS, on June 4. U.S. Air Force Colonel and Vice Commander of the 14th Flying Training Wing Matthew C. Isler addressed the graduates. Students in Columbus, MS, study at the Saint Leo Center located at the Air Force Base in Columbus. Benjamin LaFoon, who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in business administration, delivered the student farewell. All the degrees conferred were Bachelor of Arts degrees. (more…)

Many of us who live in Florida are familiar with 17-year old, Zachery (Zach) Gray’s attempted suicide by hanging last year. Zach’s nearly fatal suicide has left him brain-damaged and never to walk again. It has been suspected that Zach had been a victim of allegedly anti-gay bullying by his Zephyrhills High School classmates for sometime with little to no support or protection from the school’s staff, which may have motivated his suicide attempt. Just recently, Zach’s parents released Zach’s hospital photos and treatment. Now, more than ever, Zach’s parents seek answers that influenced their son’s nearly fatal decision. (more…)

My whole experience at Saint Leo University was excellent!

SLU’s smaller class sizes and direct support from professors allowed me to discover a love for research and analytical thinking. All of our APA papers we had, helped me out more than I could have ever imagined when I got to grad school.

Graduates and their families gathered Friday evening at Florida Gateway College to hear guest commencement speaker Elizabeth Porter, who represents Lake City and surrounding areas in the Florida House of Representatives. The local class of 2012 was comprised largely of undergraduates who had earned the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Applied Science degree at the undergraduate degree level. Several graduate degrees were also conferred: the Master of Business Administration, the Master of Science, and the Master of Education degrees. (more…)
